About Us
Hi, my name is Andrea Symth. A couple of years ago, I was stuck in a dead-end job where the workers were severely underappreciated and overworked. The office was old and falling apart around us, yet management didn’t seem to care.
Last summer there was a fire in the building. Think very old materials baking relentlessly in the scorching heat. Another thing to note was that the locks to the female bathrooms were shot. You’d need at least 5 minutes to get the bolt to line up with the lock, then immense strength to undo them again.
Anyway, on the day of the fire, we all evacuated into the parking lot before I realized that my friend was missing. In a panic I asked around, to which someone replied that they had seen her in the bathroom not five minutes before the alarm sounded. That was 20 minutes ago and she had still not emerged.
Eventually, my friend was rescued from the blaze and we cried together while they checked her out. The next day, management sent out an email telling us of our duties to work from home while they found a new office. There was no remorse in the email for our stress and anxiety about the fire - just a lot of work to get done in the day after such a traumatic event.
What’s worse is that they sent the same email to my friend who was lying in hospital recovering from smoke inhalation. It was then that I decided enough was enough. I wanted to sue on behalf of all of us that had experienced stress and anxiety from the fire.
I took to the internet, but there was an incredible lack of information about what I needed to know. That was what spurred my idea for Can I Sue, an online source to find out whether you have the grounds to sue or not, as well as helpful tips that you might need during the process.
We did win our case against our old management, and I hope that my website can help you get some clarity on your situation too. Good luck!
